Group Moves

Overview:
At the end of each season the Coaching staff gets together to discuss which swimmers are ready to make a move the next group, (i.e. Stroker to Age Group, Age Group to Junior, Junior to Senior)

Those swimmers who are ready and willing to make a greater commitment and are able to handle longer practices and greater training loads will receive a letter in the mail before Fall/Winter registration.

In the past few seasons, it has come to pass, that swimmers who have received the honor of being moved to the next level, are satisfied with being moved; but, no longer are willing to put in the time and effort to train at that level (the goal to move seems to have been the only goal). With that in mind, the Coaching Staff will be assessing the effort and commitment level of all the swimmers in each group. Swimmers who are not willing to train nor commit at the Senior level, will be moved back to Juniors. Swimmers not willing to train at the Junior level will be moved back to Age Group.

STAR's program is set for training groups. When a small minority of a training group are not making the same effort nor keeping up in workout, then for both their benefit and the training group they are in, we will move them back to the level of commitment that they show and are training at.

If you have questions, call the office at 651-704-0024.

Move Criteria:
(Or How do I Know Which Group I will be in) As each season comes to a close and swimmers and parents begin to look ahead to the next registration, the question is often "Will I move up a group this year? And how will I know?" Generally, swimmers can tell when they are about ready for a move by thinking about how they practice. A swimmer who consistently leads the fastest lane in practice, consistently uses good technique, consistently demonstrates an outstanding attitude, and consistently attends practice, is someone the coaches will be looking at to move to a higher training level. One the other hand, if a swimmer has a poor attitude, low attendance, and is not swimming in the fastest lane of the current group or has difficulty handling the training requirements of the current group, moving that particular swimmer would not be in the best interest of the team or that individual
